A Note from the GMarkU CEO
As we lead into this holiday weekend, Government Marketing University honors the men and women who have sacrificed their lives while serving our country in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.
GMarkU is thrilled to announce that our Podcast series “The Government Huddle” has been recognized as a top 2021 government podcast. Kudo’s to the great job our host Brian Chidester does at attracting amazing speakers and building out strong programs. Take a listen today!
We hope you enjoy this month’s edition of “The Beat”.

“Need to Know”
New Executive Order on Cybersecurity
The new White House executive order on Cybersecurity bets big on zero trust for the future of US cybersecurity.
Since 2018, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) in the US Department of Commerce has coordinated an industry effort to drive transparency in the software procurement process for organizations to understand what’s in the software they build, purchase, and use. The executive order’s requirement that products provide a software bill of materials (SBOM) will help organizations manage risk by letting them quickly determine what vulnerable software components are in their products.
The order highlights:
- Information sharing between the private sector and government gets a spotlight
- Supply chain and third-party risk
- Cybersecurity Safety Review Board
GMarkU recommends Government Marketers stay abreast of new Executive Orders and this is one we find extremely useful, especially if your company supports Zero Trust or Supply Chain Management.
ICYMI: Market Connections Content Marketing Review
Last week, GMarkU Strategic Alliance Partner, Market Connections, hosted their spring study release virtual event, Content Marketing Review: Reaching the Public Sector. Our CEO and Founder, Lou Anne Brossman, moderated a panel on Content Creators.
To educate and engage target audiences, B2G marketers must pay attention to their content marketing. What type of content are they looking for? What type of information should it contain? Where do they go to find it? How often should it be refreshed?
Market Connections has made every effort to survey the full spectrum of the public sector IT decision makers (including FED and SLED) to share these findings with you. Be sure to check it out and grab your copy!
